Dowel NEW
by: Anonymous

Try rolling and taping your fabric to a dowel. Roll it inside in. No hoop marks or dirty areas.

opinion on hoops
by: JennyT

I HAVE hoops and stands, but I always seem to go back to stitching in hand. I've been doing cross stitch (self-taught) since the 80's, and I JUST learned the sewing stitch existed, lol, but I've never had a problem with tension. I think it boils down to whatever gets you to zen. Stitching is relaxing , and I even used it to help me quit smoking - didn't want to get the fabric tobacco or ash stained, and it gave me something to do with my hands to get rid of nervous energy. I wish stitching would have a revival like knitting did. Hoop or no hoop, it's a beautiful craft.

Try two hand method
by: Chris A

Have you considered using a stand and stitching with both hands? Dominant hand is underneath and the other hand is on top . I prefer it.
